Green Flag Continues to Fly at Parc Bryn Bach

A record number of parks and green spaces across Wales have reached the high standards required to fly the coveted Green Flag, and we are proud to announce that Parc Bryn Bach is once again amongst them!

Environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy today revealed the 315 sites that have received the internationally renowned Green Flag Award and Green Flag Community Award.

The flag will be flying at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar in recognition of its environmental efforts, excellent visitor facilities, and community involvement.

Parc Bryn Bach is a 340-acre local nature reserve, providing the residents of Blaenau Gwent and visitors with an impressive array of flora and fauna.  The park consists of woodland, grassed areas and a lake at its heart, all of which are maintained by a small grounds maintenance team who work tirelessly to maintain the beautiful landscape for the public.

Stephen Williams, Grounds Maintenance Duty Supervisor said: “The park is a real gem in Blaenau Gwent and the team loves looking after it.

“We have thousands of visitors each year who come and enjoy nature at its best and we’re proud that the park has been recognised, yet again, with a Green Flag Award.”

Now in its third decade, the Green Flag Award recognises well-managed parks and green spaces in 20 countries around the world.

In Wales, the awards scheme is run by Keep Wales Tidy. Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for Keep Wales Tidy said: “We’re thrilled to see 315 green spaces in Wales achieving the prestigious Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff and volunteers.

“Quality green spaces play a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of people across Wales, and to be recognised as among the best in the world is a huge achievement - Congratulations!”
