Join us at Parc Bryn Bach for a fun and informative Bushcraft taster session where you will get the chance to learn all about fire lighting techniques and then put your skills to the test to toast some marshmallows over the camp fire!

Paddlesports
Improve your paddle skills and water safety this half term at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre!
During this session at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre swimming pool you will learn or improve your stand-up paddleboarding and sit-on kayaking skills and you’ll be trained in water safety, accredited by the Royal Life Saving Society.
Suitable for ages 8-11 years - all participants must be able to swim one length of a pool.

Archery Tag
Join us at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre this half term for a fun Archery Tag session!
This fun-packed activity combines paintballing (without the paint!), archery and dodgeball to create an adrenaline-filled activity to enjoy with your friends.

Sugar Loaf at Sunset Experience
Join us and experience the breath-taking beauty of the Sugar Loaf Mountain at sunset.
The Sugar Loaf Walk is one of the best places in South Wales to watch the sunset. The panoramic views of the Brecon Beacons and beyond from the summit at 596 meters are spectacular.
The walk starts at the upper car park and follows a well-marked track around the mountain before heading up a steep grassy section and a few rocky steps. At the top, you will watch the sunset with a hot drink and slice of cake, before the adventure of returning to the bottom in the dark by headtorch begins.
£22.50 per person ~ includes return transport from Parc Bryn Bach.

Enduro Challenge
Test your endurance with this 6-hour challenge at Parc Bryn Bach!
Complete two laps of the 2.1km route of Parc Bryn Bach’s lake and running trail every hour, on the hour.
Participants must complete each lap within 60 minutes to qualify for the next round. Failure to finish the distance in time results in elimination.
The final hour (17:00–18:00pm) is a race between all remaining competitors, with the first to cross the line crowned overall Enduro Champion.
To add to the challenge, the final race takes place as darkness sets in, requiring the runners to use a headtorch to illuminate the trail.

HOV Damian Williams 10k Race and 2k Junior Run
New name, new distance, same great event with the Hospice of the Valleys!
Hospice of the Valleys with support from Parc Bryn Bach Running Club are excited to bring you the new Damian Williams 10k for seniors and 2k junior run, to honour a true gentleman in our local and running community.
Set in the scenic grounds of Parc Bryn Bach this great event takes full advantage of this beautiful setting.
Whether you’re an advanced runner, enjoying park run life, social running or want to set yourself a challenge, aged over 17, then the Senior 10k is for you.

The Magical Malvern Hills Trek
This spectacular trek inspired JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit book – why not see it for yourself?
The Malvern Hills are located between three English counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, and the highest summit affords a panoramic view of the seven valley hills of Herefordshire, the Welsh mountains, parts of thirteen neighbouring counties and the Bristol channel.
The trek covers a distance of 9.3 miles, with the highest summit being Worcestershire Beacon at 425 meters.
Total Accent: 2,946 meters
Approximate duration: walking 5 hours
Approximate duration including travel: 12 hours
Return transport to Parc Bryn Bach will be provided for all participants.

Swim-Run Event
Dive into adventure with our Swim-Run event at Parc Bryn Bach!
Teams of two will take on an exciting multi-discipline course combining open-water swimming and trail running around our stunning lake and surrounding parkland.
You’ll complete alternating swim and run sections, staying together throughout the race. The total course includes 2.8km of swimming and 6km of running, offering a mix of scenic trails, grassy paths, and refreshing lake swims. Navigating the course is a balance of endurance, teamwork and strategy.
The event is suitable for seasoned racers or first-time swim/runners and promises fun, camaraderie, and a fantastic test of fitness in a breath-taking Welsh setting.
Full Event Information:
Entry Cost: £25 per person
Location: Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar
Team Format: Pairs (must stay within 10 metres at all times)
Total Distance: 8.8km (2.8km swim / 6km run)
Equipment Required: Wetsuits, goggles, swim hat, trail shoes suitable for wet conditions, hand paddles and pull-buoy (optional)
Transition: No formal transition zones – run and swim in the same kit (competitors must have all their kit with them during the run and swim)
Safety: Swim safety support will be on the water throughout; all participants must wear a swim cap (can be provided)
Mayhem of Mad 4 Animals

Enjoy ninety minutes packed with a high energy show plus hands on animal handling that turns everyone into a brave explorer.

Simply collect your entry form from reception in the visitor centre, then follow the clues to find all the letters and return to reception to claim your prize!

Christmas Walk Through
Take a walk through our specially decorated section of the visitor centre at Parc Bryn Bach and see how the elves have been busy getting ready for Christmas!

Chase the Christmas Pudding
Join the Hospice of the Valleys for their annual festive themed fun run at Parc Bryn Bach!
This is a family-friendly event, which is accessible for wheelchairs and push prams, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome too - making this the perfect fundraising event for the whole family to enjoy.
Participants can run, jog, dance, skip or walk 2 laps of the scenic lake whilst chasing a giant Christmas Pudding.

Hospice Big Hike
Savour the breath-taking scenery in and around Crickhowell and hike for a loved one this September to help rise vital funds for the Hospice of the Valleys to be there for patients and their loved ones when they need us the most!
Our Parc Bryn Bach adventure team will be helping by providing a fully guided hike with our qualified walk instructors.
Participants will also receive a Hospice t-shirt and buff.

Each race consists of a 750m swim in the lake followed by a 5km run (two laps of the track around the lake).
The swim is supported by a water safety team and the whole event is managed by the helpful, cheerful group of NEWTs volunteers.
Race Starts at 7.00pm
Registration between 5.30pm - 6.30pm in the Visitor Centre.
Entry fee is £25 per race.
Please note that wetsuits are mandatory.

Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon
Titan Brecon Middle Distance Triathlon is back for 2025 on Saturday 5th July at Parc Bryn Bach!
Possibly the most Iconic Middle Distance Triathlon on the UK Calendar which should be on all triathletes bucket list, with a beautiful lake swim, an ‘epic’ bike course and a traffic-free park-based run.
The event starts with a 1.2 mile one-lap swim and takes place in the park lake.
The 60-mile bike course has now built a following of fans and ‘epic’ is the word! The quiet roads have excellent riding surfaces and the route tours the beautiful Brecon Moors before culminating with a sustained climb back to T2.
The final 13.1 mile run is a three-lap route around the lake and park – so it’s great for spectators!

Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge with Hospice of the Valleys
Our Parc Bryn Bach team will be supporting the Hospice of the Valleys Welsh 3 Peaks Challenges this year.
The Welsh 3 Peaks is an awesome 24 hours of adventure as you take on the three highest peaks in Wales; Y Wyddfa (Snowdon) (1,085m), Cadair Idris (893m) and Pen-Y-Fan (886m), a total of 17.4 miles of walking and 2864m of ascent. That’s the equivalent height of 9 Eiffel Towers or 651 double decker buses stacked on top of each other.
A unique opportunity to take in spectacular, breath-taking mountain views, challenge yourself, make memories to last a lifetime and accomplish something truly extraordinary. Trekking will be tough with limited time for each peak; however, the sense of achievement when you summit the final peak will be unbeatable.
What’s Included: Qualified Walk Leaders, Transport from Tredegar to North Wales and duration of challenge, kit list, Hospice T-shirt, Buff, spectacular views and memories to treasure.

On the Event Day:
All car parking will be at the golf course for the day. Overflow parking will be provided at the airstrip, with a shuttle bus to bring visitors down to the event.
Disabled parking will be available near the play area - please show your blue badge to the staff on the main gates.
There will be no ParkRun or Open Water Swim on Saturday morning. The lake will also be closed to fishing on Saturday
National 3 Peaks Challenge with Hospice of the Valleys
Our Parc Bryn Bach team will be supporting the Hospice of the Valleys National 3 Peaks Challenges this year.
The National 3 Peaks is an awesome 24 hours of adventure as you take on the three highest peaks in Scotland; Ben Nevis (1,344m), England; Scafell Pike (978m) and Wales Snowdon (1,085m), around 23 miles of walking and 3,064m of ascent. That’s the equivalent height of 32 London’s Big Ben or 696 double decker buses stacked on top of each other.
What’s Included: Qualified Walk Leaders, Transport from Tredegar to Scotland and duration of challenge, over night accommodation at Fort William, kit list, Hospice T-shirt, Buff, spectacular views and memories to treasure.
