The Pen y Fan Horseshoe Challenge from Torpantau offers a thrilling 12-mile circular route through the heart of the Brecon Beacons.
Starting from the Torpantau, the trail begins with a steady ascent toward Craig y Fan Ddu, leading onto the dramatic ridgeline of Graig Fan Las.
From there, it follows the horseshoe arc, taking in the summits of Fan y Big, Cribyn, and the iconic Pen y Fan—the highest peak in South Wales.
The route then descends via Corn Du before looping back along the ridge above the Neuadd Reservoirs and returning to Torpantau.
This challenging hike rewards walkers with sweeping views, rugged mountain scenery, and a real sense of accomplishment.
